SKATEBOARDING PHYSICS

The 360 flip

In Physics of the Ollie you can about learn how a skateboarder becomes airborne.

THE 360 FLIP PHYSICS

So you do a 360 flip and the board starts flipping.

By doing this you kick down on the tail with back foot, and then you tilt and slide your front foot forward towards the nose.

This starts the deck spinning and flipping.

But why does the skateboard keep flipping ? The answer lies in a mystery that Issac Newton solved years ago.

Objects like to be lazy, and you'll find that it takes less work for the board to keep flipping than to stop.

Objects in motion like to stay in motion

After the board has completed it's flipping motion, the rider stops it with his/her feet and stomps down.

Then the skater rides away clean.
