50-50 grind - grinding on both trucks equally

5-0 grind - grinding on only the back truck

50-50 Stall - A brief pause with both trucks making contact with the edge of an obstacle or coping of a ramp.

180 - half rotation (180). Can refer to board or body rotations or an aerial in which the skater rotates 180°

360 - one full rotation (360). Can refer to board or body rotations or an aerial in which the skater rotates 360°

540 - one full rotation and a half (360 + 180). Can refer to board or body rotations or an aerial in which the skater rotates 540°

720 - two full rotations (360 + 360) and it can refer to board or body rotations or an aerial in which the skater rotates 720°

900 - two full rotations and a half (360 + 360 + 180). Can refer to board or body rotations or an aerial in which the skater rotates 900°

acid Drop - to ride or roll off a ledge .

airwalk - an aerial in which a nose grab is made and both feet are kicked out in opposite directions (front foot kicking forward and back foot kicking back)

air - riding with all four wheels off the ground; short for aerial.

alley-oop - The trajectory of a trick which resembles a cursive lowercase letter L. Can be done with aerials or grinds.

backside air/grab - An aerial with the front hand grabbing the board just behind the front foot heel.

backside - when a trick or turn is executed with the skater’s back facing the ramp or obstacle.

benihana - a tail grab with the back foot taken completely off the board.

big spin - a backside 180 body turn with a 180 shove-it.

blunt - a lip trick where all four wheels go over the obstacle (or coping), and the board is kept in almost vertical position with tail against the edge and the back wheels resting over the obstacle. To come off, the skater may grab the board (usually nose or mute grab) and simply hop back in. If the dismount is without a grab it is called an ollie blunt.

board slide - a trick in which the skater slides the underside of the deck along an object, such as a curb or handrail.

bone less - a front side grab in which the front foot is taken off to the ground (while keeping the back foot on the tail) and used to jump back into the board.

bonk - intentionally touching the two wheels of the front axle on top of an obstacle when ollieing over it.

casper - A freestyle trick in which the skater balances with one foot on the underside of the tail (with wheel-side of board facing up), while the front foot is placed underneath the board behind the front truck (on the grip tape side) to maintain the board balanced without letting the nose touch the ground.

christ air - An aerial in which a backside grab is made and the body is spread out in Jesus Christ-on-the-cross position.

carve - to cruise around the inner walls of a bowl at high speeds using centrifugal force.

Caballerial - a 360-degree turn performed on a ramp while riding fakie (backwards), named after skater Steve Caballero.

carve - to skate in a long, curving arc(usually in the corner of a bowl).

crooked grind - grinding on only the front truck while sliding

dark slide - a board slide with the grip tape side.

disaster - an aerial in which the skater rotates 180°' and landing on the coping on the middle of the board. The back wheels land on top of the lip and the front wheels hang inside the ramp.

fakie - skating backwards—the skater is standing in his or her normal stance, but the board is moving backward (not to be confused with switch stance).

fast plant - similar to boneless with one key difference: the skater removes and jumps with the back foot while maintaining the front foot on.

feeble grind - same as a smith grind with one key difference: The front truck stays over the coping

finger flip - a flip of the board which is caused by twisting action of the front hand. This trick was originated in freestyle, where it was done with early grab on flat ground. Since then, it has been adapted to street and ramp skating where it is done with an ollie.

flips - one complete screwing rotation of the board. Flips are not measured in degrees. Multiple flips are measured as double flip, triple flip, quadruple flip, and so on. Board or body rotations are measured in degrees, such as, 360, 540, 720, 900, 1080, and so on.

front side - A stance in which a trick may be executed. Front side does not always mean with your front towards the obstacle. When referring to rock an roll or board slide tricks, front side means that you have your back towards the direction you are going. When referring to aerials, ollies, grinds, or kick turns, front side means with your front towards the coping of the ramp, edge of obstacle, or direction you are going.

goofy-foot - riding with the right foot forward, the opposite of regular foot.

grind - scraping one or both axles on a curb, railing, or other surface

half cab - fakie ollie to an aerial in which the skater rotates 180°.

hand plant - a front side plant with front side air grab with the front hand resting on the coping of a ramp. The skater rides beyond the coping and becomes fully inverted.

hard flip - an aerial in which the skater rotates 180°.The board rotation goes in the opposite direction in which you must kick the front foot toes to produce the flip.

heel flip - an ollie flip flips counter-clockwise and is caused by a forward kick with the front foot heel.

hurricane - a 170° ollie to backwards smith grind on an obstacle (or coping).

kick flip - originally a freestyle trick in which the skater stands in hang ten fashion on the middle of the board, with the toes of one foot hanging out to the side of the board. When the skater jumps up, the toes of one foot drag the side of the deck causing it to flip. Today, the kick flip refers strictly to the ollie flip.

late flip - an ollie which is followed by a delayed kick of one foot to cause the board to flip just prior to landing.

lip slide - a board slide in which the back truck goes over the obstacle. If done on a ramp, the back wheels slide on top of the coping. If done on a rail, the skater must ollie over the obstacle, and then slide like a board slide.

manual - to ride on two wheels of either the front or the back truck.

McTwist - a 540-degree turn performed on a ramp, named after Mike McGill.

melon - a backside air with the front leg straightened out.

mongo-foot - a style of pushing where the back foot is kept on the board and pushing is done with the front foot.

mute air - an aerial with a grab of the front hand on the toe side of the board, just below the front foot.

method air - a backside air in which the board is pulled towards the back, and both knees are tweaked out to the front

no comply - a no-handed front side b - An aerial in which the skater rotates 180°.

nollie - an ollie performed by tapping the nose of the board instead of the tail.

nose slide - sliding the underside of the nose end of a board on a ledge, rail, or lip.

nose grind - grinding on only the front truck

ollie - a jump performed by tapping the tail of the board on the ground; the basis of most skating tricks. named after Alan Ollie Gelfand.

ollie impossible - Aa tail scoop with the back foot which causes a vertical b - An aerial in which the skater rotates 360° .Ideally the board rotates vertically around the toes of the back foot, but as long as the back foot keeps contact with the board it is still considered an impossible.

pressure flip - a forceful 180 shove-it with a flip. Both the shove-it and the flip are caused by scooping action of the back foot and downward pressure applied on the toe side of the tail. The front foot does not contribute to the flip, which spins in counter-clockwise direction (like a heel flip).

pop - term used to describe ollieing ability and cleanliness of a tail-snap during an ollie.

pop shove-it - the same as a shuv-it but popping the tail to make the board ariel , while in the air the board spins under the skater.

primo - a freestyle trick where the skater stands on the edge of the board, on top of the side of the front and back wheels. Named after freestyler Primo Desederio, who used to slide in this stance. However, Primo was not the inventor of this trick. This trick is actually called a rail stand, and the creator is unknown.

regular foot - riding with the left foot forward, the opposite of goofy-foot.

rock and roll - a trick in which you go up a ramp and hang most of your board (including the front axle) over the coping on a ramp. The back axle stays inside the ramp.

shifty - a stylish ollie in which the skater points the nose of the board slightly to the side in mid air.

shuv-it - a trick performed by spinning the board 180 degrees beneath the feet without the skater spinning.

smith grind - a 5-0 grind which is held in locked position with the nose pointing downward. The front truck is kept below the top of the obstacle and the entire weight of the skater rests on the back foot.

stale fish - a backside grab with the back hand instead of the front hand. The grab is made behind the the back leg.

switch stance - riding the board with the opposite footing than usual, i.e., goofy-foot instead of regular foot.

tail slide - sliding the underside of the tail end of a board on a ledge or lip.

Varial Kick flip - a trick consisting of a backside pop shuv-it and a kick flip. The board does a 180 rotation.

Varial Heel flip - the same trick as a varial kick flip but instead you combine a heel flip and a front side shuv-it.

varial - an aerial in which the skater reaches down with one hand and rotates the board.
